Rhetorical Analysis of â€Å"I am a Crisis† In 2012, the British Red Cross released a public service announcement called â€Å"I am a Crisis.† The short advert was about how â€Å"a crisis can happen to anyone.† (HelloImAPizza) It aired all across the United Kingdom and even social media. The advert has gathered thousands of views through the years, which means many have heard its important message. The public service announcement, â€Å"I am a crisis†, message is significant because it can relate to everyone. The advert tells that a crisis can happen to anyone anywhere at any time and no one should â€Å"ignore people in crisis.†(HelloImAPizza) It calls the viewers to action to donate so that the British Red Cross can continue to help individuals and families in†¦show more content†¦Though being meant for mainly United Kingdom viewers, the advert hit social media and gained many more views. The grain of a wider audiences definitely spread the British Red Cross mission to grab peopleâ€℠¢s attention and have viewers donate to continue their services. Throughout the public service announcement, there are two main rhetorical concepts being used. One of the concepts used is pathos, the appeal to emotions. Pathos is the most common used concept because it is the easiest to persuade someone. Like many other public service announcements, â€Å"I am a Crisis† definitely targets the audiences emotions. As the girl walks with her dog she says,† I am the fire that leaves you homeless. A heart attack in aisle six. . . The food shopping you cannot do. Im the reason you need a wheelchair. . .† These crises listed by the mysterious lady pulls at viewers heartstrings because the viewers can image being in those situations, knowing someone in those situations, or have been in those situations. It gives people a fear of loss of loved ones, homes, or anything important to them because crisis â€Å"dont care who you are.† (HelloImAPizza) Nobody wants to be, or anyone else, in those predicaments without any help, so this pe rsuades them to donate or volunteer.
